Adding a Customer to the sale.

  • At any point in time a loyalty or account customer can be added to a sale.
  • All sales item detail is then tracked to that customer.

Options - At any point in the sale;

  • Obtain the customer’s POS ID number and use the touch keypad to enter the number then touch the 'Enter' button.

  • Swipe the customer’s plastic ID card through the reader or scan the number on the customer’s ID card, depending on the card.

OR

  • Touch the ‘Lookup - Customer’ button to enter the customer search screen.

  • Here, you can key in a partial of the Customer’s name, phone number or numeric ID and touch the appropriate search key. (Phone Number, Card No Or Name). 'Reset' clears the search.

  • If the search finds a matching customer or group of customers, touch the line containing the correct customer’s name.
  • This brings up the confirmation screen, where you can verify details with the customer, prior to adding them to the sale.

  • Touch OK once more on the confirmation screen if the details are correct.
  • If the customer is flagged as 'Enforce P/O' in the Back Office, then the 'Purchase Order Reference is Required' message is displayed.
    You will not be able to add this customer to the sale without supplying at least a one character P/O reference.
    The'Payment to an Account' button can be used, only if the customer has no purchases and is a Charge Account customer.
  • The customer entry can be aborted by touching the 'Cancel Customer' button.

Once a customer is in a sale with items already sold, the sale cannot be changed to a new customer. Attempts to enter a new customer number will be rejected. 

  • If the sale has a customer but no items or voided items, touching the ‘Void Sale’ button will set the sale back to 'Walk-In' mode.
  • Any comments attached to the Customer using the Back Office can be viewed by touching the 'View Comments' button.

Updating Customer Information at the Terminal.

  • To update customer information or add information to a 'New Customer' record at the POS - Touch the 'Edit Information' button.

  • To update any field, touch it,then enter the information using the touch key pad.
  • An external Keyboard can also be used to update Information on this screen if required. 
  • Please note that attaching a Keyboard to a Lane severely reduces the security on the Lane and opens the Lane up to possible tampering attempts.

There are two buttons at the top of the screen which will activate an MSR (Magnetic Stripe Reader) in order to enter data from a  Magnetic Stripe Card. 

  • Swiping a Drivers License will enter information encoded by the magnetic stripe on the back of the driver's license. (BC Canada tested only)
  • Swiping or scanning an ID that has the customer's POS ID encoded card will change the POS ID.

Sales cannot be split between customers.

  • The customer’s name will be displayed on the cashier’s screen throughout the sale.
  • Having a customer assigned to a sale means that the customer will accumulate loyalty reward points for any points bearing items sold in the sale.
    These points can later be redeemed as described in the Methods of Payment section.
  • If the customer is designated as an account customer, they can pay using the ‘Account Billing’ function as described in the Methods of Payment section.
  • An account Customer is created by giving the customer a non-zeroA/R code in the Back Office software Customers/Customer Maintenance.
    Account customers can split payments between their account and other methods of payment.
  • Invoicing and Statements to the account Customers are run through the Back Office ‘Cash Register Manager’ software.

Adding a Name ONLY to the sale

  • If you just wish to add a customer's name to the purchase, without a Customer ID or any other information being used, this can be done by touching the 'Options - Add Sale Information' button on the POS screen.

  • Click the 'Set' Button next to the' Replaces Walk In Sale Label..' notification.
  • The Touch Keyboard will then let you add a name or any other quick details (Phone Number etc.) to the sale.
  • Touch the 'Enter OK' button to save the new name.
  • The Preset buttons just replace the WALK-IN SALE wording in one step.
    This function can be used anywhere that a quick distinction needs to be made for orders -  e.g.  on a remote printer or held sale.

  • Touch the Cancel button to loose the entry and re-display the WALK-IN SALE message on the line.

The name entered is also printed on the Receipt (Max 38 Characters).
