Magentic Swipe/PIN Pad Chip Reader problems.

Gift Card payments and Issues/Reloads are all processed through the USB MSR.
Credit
and Debit Card payments are all processed through the PIN Pad.
- If a magnetic card reader is not working try wrapping a piece of clean paper on a plastic card and running it
through the reader, to clean it.
- Faulty connections to the Lane PC may also be to blame for poor performance.
- If the reader refuses to work even after a Lane
reboot, you will need a technician on site.
- Sometimes a Card will not swipe
properly if its magnetic strip is damaged.
- Cards with a damaged Chip may cause the PIN pad to ask for a swipe as an alternate
method of using the card.
In any case where the Credit card does not read,
you will have to use the manual entry functions on the payment screen to
enter the card number and expiry date.
- On the payment screen, touch the ‘Manual Sale’ button.
- On the PIN Pad, enter the Charge Card
Number e.g. 4003000123456781 and press the OK key.
- On the PIN Pad enter the expiry
date e.g. 0505 and press the OK key (Note
the YEAR and MONTH order of entry!)
- Continue on wth the rest of the PIN Pad prompts to complete the sale.
