Rebuilding
a Remote Lane
- Lanes that are sharing a Database with the Back Office ('Central') will never need
to be rebuilt.
It is possible for Remote Lanes to miss updates, or items could be
deleted from the Back Office but not the Remote lane due to operational errors, resulting in
the need to rebuild the Lane database.
- A lane should be rebuilt if it is not performing as expected or
is running slowly.
- Run a Lane Rebuild only when the store
is closed or when it is not crucial that the Lane work
immediately.
(Any unexpected communication or data problems could send
the lane down.)
- Before you do any Lane rebuilds, run a 'Day
End' to ensure all Lane Data has been retrived to the back office.
-
A Lane Rebuild will only retain lane sales data that has not been polled.
The first step is to stop the Polling Scheduler Service, if it is running in the background,
by selecting the Back Office - POS Lanes - Schedule Polling option.
The next thing to do is to Send All information to the Back Office Server using
the Back Office POS Lanes - Send Changes option.
- Choose 'All Information' prior to Sending.
- This builds the batch files required for the Lane to rebuild itself and places them
ready for the lane to pick up..
If the Start Lane program is running on the Lane (shown Below) it will automatically
pick up the files from the server and start processing them in within 30 seconds.
- However to run the Rebuild from an empty database touch the Central Globe Icon to
see the Lane Server Setup screen.
- Touch the 'Clean Data' button. This will result in all current data (except
for unpolled sales) to be deleted prior to the rebuild.
- Then touch the Update Lane button to initiate the Data Transfer and rebuild.

Wait while the rebuild completes! -
give it at least 1 minute for every 1000 items and customers on
file.
- If the rebuild is successful you will get a ‘Done’
message.
- If you see any error messages then the Lane is DOWN and you
will need technical assistance.
Check the Lane for
functionality before re-opening it for
business!
