Printer Problems
If a printer stops working that HAS been working, make
sure it has not run out of paper and that it has power.
- If that is NOT the case, then the only things to check
are connections to the printer.
- See the Printer Setup page for
more information.

- If everything looks OK, try turning the printer
OFF and ON again. Call technical assistance if a printer just refuses to
work.
If lack of the Printer function or Paper Outage is causing
the Lane software not to work, then;
- Hold the sale.
- Log Out if necessary.
- Log In as a Cashier with Supervisor/Manager
permissions.
- Touch the Options - Cashout button.
- Touch the 'Lane Configuration' button
- Touch the 'Receipt Printer Enabled' option button to
turn it OFF
- Touch the Save and Exit button.
- Restart the Lane Software.
- Log In and recall the sale.
- Please note that switching this option off will stop the Cash Drawer
opening automatically, so have the keys available to manually open the
Cash Drawer if necessary.
- Fix the printer - and re-enable the options as
soon as possible.
- Do not use the Lane if Integrated Debit Credit is part of the
system, you will not be able to give customer's records of their
purchases.
In these enviroments - don't run out of paper!

- To turn automatic sales receipts off,, touch ‘Lookup - Receipts’
then ‘Turn Receipts
OFF’.

In this case, the Cash Drawer will still open after a Cash transaction, but
the lane will no longer look for a printer to print a Receipt.
- If the Customer insists on a receipt, it can be obtained either
in Invoice format from the Back Office or as a duplicate Receipt when the
printer is fixed.
- Receipts can also be reprinted from the Lane when the printer
problem is resolved.
- To obtain an Invoice from the Back
Office, choose 'Store/Sales Journal Detail, compile Data for the period
required, then highlight the required receipt on the list that
appears. Click on the 'Reprint Invoice' button.
The Invoice is then presented in a
format that can be printed on any 8.5 by 11 Windows
printer.

- The Lane PC will retain all of its backlogged receipts, and print
them out when the printer problem is resolved.
- In an environment where Debit/Credit authorization is
integrated into the lanes, it is best to put the lane ‘Out of Service’ if
the printer malfunctions.
- Any Visa or Debit
Authorization slips made while the Printer is offline may still
be retained in the Print Queue.
The Authorization will still go through however.
- Turn the Printing back on again when
the problem is corrected!!
- Touch ‘Print Receipt’ then ‘Turn Printing ON’.
