Open
Department Sales and Returns
If an item does not
scan, or cannot be found under
the Inquiry mode or on a PLU button, there is no other means
of selling or returning it except for using an 'Open Department' Sale or Return function.
- The money taken or refunded then can at least be
charged to the correct department.
-
Obviously,
this is not ideal in an environment that tracks individual items for inventory or reporting
purposes.
- It serves the function of at least making the sale and
does not tie up the lane, thereby keeping the customer
happy!
To sell/return an
item through an Open Department for any reason...
- Touch the 'Department Sale' or
'Department Return' button.
-
Enter the amount of the sale
or return.

- Touch the Department Button.
- The system calculates any taxes on the item
automatically according to the Department's Tax
Status set in the Back office.
The Department Button only shows up on the POS lanes when the 'Show
Button ON POS' option is set ON in the Back Office setup.
Choose Setup/Data Grouping/Departments.
-
All Departments
do not have to be visible on the Lane, only
the ones you need to
access directly are
necessary, otherwise the scanned items report directly to a department.
- To make a
Department button visible on the POS lane, click on the POS Options
button, then check the 'Show Button on the
POS' option
for
any Department selected.

Once changes are sent to
the Lane you will have to activate the Department to get it to
show up.
- To do this, on the lane, choose Cashout - Configure Lane -
Active Buttons

This displays the Active Buttons
setup.
- Touch any button to enable it (Yellow) or disable it
(Grey).
- Disabled Departments will not be visible ot any cashier on
the lane.
- This feature is designed so that a Lane can show or hide
Departments, enabling different types of Lane within the same Back
Office data.
- PLU Items setup as PLU Pages can also be hidden or activated
in the same way.
