Points
Payments - (Customer Loyalty Award Points)
This system keeps the amount of the customer's loyalty points awarded on file, instead of issuing a paper coupon a the end of the
sale.
The points awarded are a discount that is calculated as a ratio between the points
awared per dollar spent and points redeemable value per dollar.
Customers are awarded loyalty points
by purchasing point bearing items.
Points are redeemed against the total of the Sale, including
taxes, as would be a Store Coupon.
Points can be accumulated and redeemed in any eligable
sale.
Points accumulated within an eligable sale cannot be
applied to the same sale.
The points system is not a direct discount
system.
The store has a liability to the amount of the total
unredeemed points awarded to all customers.
In an Add On Tax system (Taxes not included in the shelf
price) points are awarded and redeemed against the pre-tax
value of the item and total sale.
In a VAT system (Taxes included in the shelf price) points
are awarded and redeemed on the Tax Included Price and Total Sale value
including taxes.
The value of each customer point and the
amount of points awarded per dollar, is setup in the Back
Office software.
The default points
per dollar awarded on any purchased
item is calculated based on the figure set
in the Item's Department. (The item joins a department by
setting it's Category, which is linked to a
parent Department.)
To view the amount of points the item is worth, in
the Back Office choose Inventory - Item Maintenance, then find
the required item.
When the item screen displays, click on the 'POS Options'
button.

This displays the Item's Point Of Sale
data.

Points awarded to each item are calculated on a default department
setting.
This value cannot be overridden unless the 'Custom Price Levels'
flag is set on in the
'Pricing Options' frame.
To setup the Points Value by Department:
From the Back Office software, choose Setup -
Store - Departments
Click on the 'Department Defaults' button.
Put a Points Per Dollar value value in each department
and save the entry.

e.g. An item that sells for $10.00 will award 20 points to
each customer when sold if 2 Points Per Dollar are set in it's
department.
The items can be modified to any points value.
If any item is designated as Controlled AND Discountable,
points can only be redeemed on controlled item to a
maximum of the profit made on the item.
Clicking on the 'Update Department Items' button will
recalculate the Points for each item int he department.
Customers can use their points for
dollars directly in the sale as a payment media.
The value of a particular customer's
points depends on what 'Loyalty Type' is assigned to the customer.
The Loyalty Type contains the points value information.
Loyalty Types can be used as a marketing tool, so better
customer's points are worth more than other customers.
If, for example a customer has accumulated 5000
points and their loyalty type awards 500 points per dollar then their
points are worth $10.00 at the Point of Sales Lane.
To set up or view Loyalty Types, in
the Back Office software choose Setup - Customer
- Loyalty Levels. Edit the tables and click Save to make
changes.

To assign a Loyalty Type to a
customer, in the Back Office software, choose Customers
- Customer Maintenance.
Make changes required to the Customer Loyalty Points
Information section.

When the customer
information has been saved, you must send changes
to the Lanes or allow the system to update the lanes,
before any changes become effective at the Point Of Sales.
If the customer has any redeemable
points, then the current value and quantity of the customer’s points
will display, when the customer is first selected and also when the ‘Other Pay - Points' button is touched at the end of a
sale.

If the customer
has no points, or there is no valid customer in the sale, the Other
Pay - Points button is unavailable.
All or some of the Points can be redeemed against the sale,
but only to the maximum of the sale amount.
No change is given on points.
A quick ‘Use All Points’ button is
provided if the customer wishes to redeem all points on the sale or
use some of their points to complete the entire purchase.
A value for the
amount of points to be used against the sale can be Key Entered as long
as the total points do not exceed either the sale amount, or the amount of points the
customer has accumulated.
Points dollars’ can also be split with other methods of
payment.
The customer receipt shows
Points Redeemed and Dollar value of same
Points
Earned
Points Balance
Walk-In sales will show 'Could have earned points' on the receipt as long as there
are Points in the Sale.
