Computer Hardware

The POS Lane Software is designed to be used with a Touch Screen only.

  • Attaching a mouse and keyboard to a Lane will compromise the security.
  • Errors resulting from mouse or keyboard input are NOT supported.
  • Remove the mouse and keyboard from every Lane for normal use, unless all cashiers are fully trusted.

A good UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is a MUST HAVE for every lane.

  • We cannot support a lane that does not have a UPS installed, especially in locations that do not have good power the year round.
  • Whenver possible use a Smart UPS connected to the PC.  Set the Windows Power management settings to shut the PC Down if the battery is drained to 10% of its capacity.

In any POS setting, cooling and good ventilation and location is paramount for reliable operation of the PC's.

  • The PC's should be mounted so they are accessible for easy service but safe from liquid spills, accidental button pressing, and being bumped or shaken/vibrated excessively during day to day cash operations.
  • To avoid lane downtime, spend a bit more money on a reliable model, with heavy duty cooling systems and a hard drive rated for speed, reliability and long life.

Have your computer hardware and wiring installed and supported by a qualified technicians and electricians.

If your system is going to be on the Internet it is VERY important that you have a Hardware Firewall enabled on the WAN router between the Network and the Internet.
