Price Levels Department Setup
There are
5 alternate selling prices for each item sold at the POS.
- Each alternate price is set on a 'Price
Level.'
- The Price Level's default calculation for any item is contained
in its Department.
- Each item can
have custom levels set individually or take the Department
defaults.
- If a price change is made to an item, the alternate prices
recalculate only if the item is not set to a custom pricing
status.
There are two ways to setup the discount price level
calculations by Department.
The simplest way to setup a
Department's default Price Levels is to go into the
Back Office Menu - Setup
- Store - Departments.

- You can then setup the % Off and Dollar
Off 'Default Price Levels' for each department. In the above
example, the Beer's promotional level is 10% off regular price.
There are no other levels setup.
- When an item is added to the system, or has it's price
changed, the system will look to the Department that the item is
linked to, in order to determine the prices that go into each of the 5
alternate price levels.
To
make it more convenient to do changes on all of the departments, rather
than editing one at a time, we provide a Matrix as part of the Price Level Schedule
form.
So the second way to
maintain the department defaults is to choose 'Setup - POS
Lanes - Price Levels Schedule' from the Main Menu.
This will
open the eStream POS Lane Price Level
Schedule' form.
The Price Level
Scheduler form will show by default.
-
Then click on the 'Department Price Levels'
button.
This displays the Department Discount Setup
matrix.
This utility has the following options;
- If a Discount Level is setup in the green section, it can be
applied Globally to ALL departments. In the above example, if the 'Apply
Globally' button was clicked, a 10% discount would be applied to each
Department for the Wholesale Level ONLY and all the items
pricing in the file would be recalculated for that level.
e.g an Item
worth $10.00 would be set to $8.90, all other levels would remain at
$10.00.
- If a department Range is chosen (By clicking on the start
and end departements in the range) the discount setup in the Green section
will only be applied to that range of departments when the 'Apply to
Departments Range' button is clicked.
- If you wish to remove all alternate prices from all levels, click
on the 'Remove all Levels' button.
Any item can be setup as a Custom Pricing item, using the POS Options
in Inventory
- Item Maintenance.
- Once an item is flagged this way, then changes to the Department
matrix will no longer affect it.
- After a while it can be difficult to keep track of
all the custom changes so a report is supplied to help you do this.
- Click on the Price Level Scheduler's form's 'Custom
Priced Items' Tab to see the Print button for that report.
To reset all custom
pricing to default levels, click on the 'Reset All Custom items' button
on the same form.
