Mix Match groups are designed primarily, to easily maintain the price of multiple,
like items having the same price.
However they can be used to group items together, without having to have a common
retail price, that share any common bond, such as an SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) code
This allows faster Purchase Order generation, and also gives the advantage of having
items report to a group outside of the normal Department structure.
Mix Match Gropups have no affect on, or relation to, the the Cost of an Item.
Using the 'Clone' feature of the Item Maintenance
form, together with a Mixmatch group, gives a fast setup for multiple, like items.
A filter for items within the Inventory List, by Mix Match Group is provided.
In the Store - Sales Summary Reports - A report is available by Mixmatch group sales.
For more information of how Mix Match groups relate to the
Inventory - Item Maintenance routine - see the 'Mix Match
Group Maintenance' page.
Candy bars and cigarettes are good examples
of items that can be grouped together
for discount purposes.
If all the 55g candy bars have the same price, a Mix Match group with the name
'Candy Bar Special' could be setup.
- This group then is given an initial item which should be priced correctly
e.g $0.99 for 1
- Then all the other 55g candy bars are added to the group.
- As the items are put into the group, the price is changed to $0.99
At any time they can be removed from the group, or added to another group.
- If the price of any one item within the group is changed, then it will change
the price of every other item in the group.
- A Mixmatch 'Group Discount' feature is available using
Mix Match groups also.
For instance, the 55g Candy Bars can be $0.99 each but when three are sold the third
one gives the customer a price break. e.g. 3 for $2.19
To do the initial setup of a Mix Match group, choose Inventory - Mix Match Maintenance
from the top menu.
- To Setup a New Mix Match group, click on the 'New' button on the 'Mix Match/SKU
Group' Tab shown above.
- The Group Detail Tab will appear in place of the GBroup List.
- To abort the New Group Entry, just click the 'Exit' button at the top left of the Form.

Here is an explanation of the entry boxes on the form...
- Group ID - Use a unique, non zero number for the ID.
The Group Numbers can be any size and need not be sequential - A new number is provided
by the system, but it can be edited before saving the Group.
- Report Description - Is your own handy description for the items in this group.
- POS Description (Uniwell systems only - not shown here) - This prints
on the register when the discount group functions are used and the customer gets
a price break. Setting this to say 'Discount' is usually good enough.
- No Line Pricing - Use this a grouping for unlike items, as an SKU, additional
reporting or discount group.
- Price - and Retail Units is set by adding the first item to the group.
Further items added to the group inherit the same price.
If the price of any item in the group is changed in Inventory - Item maintenance,
then the entire group changes to the same price UNLESS the 'Disable Line Pricing'
flag is set ON (Checked).
- 'Customer Pays' - Is a means to discount Multiple Item Sales - (Optional).
Enter a special group price for a purchase of 2 or more items.
- On a Purchase Of - Enter the quantity that triggers the discount.
At the POS lanes, a discount will be given on the purchase of the specified amount.
e.g. the normal selling each price of the items is 99c, when the customer
buys 3, they pay only a total of $2.19, but only when the last one of the three is purchased.
The POS applies the entire discount to the last item purchased.
Rental Information.
Putting Rental Items in Mix Match groups provides a quick
way to make changes in the rules for renting all the items in that group.
- An Group cannot have Rental Information attached to it until it has been saved.
- Check the 'All Items in this Group are Rentable' flag to maintain a Rental Mix Match Group.
- This reveals the rest of the rule set for this rental group.
