Setup - Scheduled Polling
The Back Office software does not have to be running for the Polling Scheduler to run, however, the PC has to have a user logged on.

You  will not be allowed to Log Off from your Windows session while the Scheduler is running.  If security is an issue then we suggest a password protected screen saver be set up.
  • Windows  users must have Admin rights to run this program, and that user must share an identical Login and Password combination as the DCOM admin user on the Lanes.
  • If required, lanes can be polled continuously - this builds a consolidated Electronic Journal 'EJ' on the back office machine for close to real time system monitoring.
(This option is only recommended where the network and power environments are guaranteed stable.)
  • Item stock levels and customer balances are updated each time it polls.
  • The frequency of the polling and sending is setup in the Lane Functionality form.
  • As the scheduler runs, it does 3 system 'Health Checks' a day and writes to the 'Communications Log' accessed via the normal Store/Daily Summary Reports.
  • The Daily Summary Reports are generated at the End of the Day close (1:00 AM by default) by the scheduler program automatically.
Start the Scheduler by running POS Lanes - Schedule Polling from the Back Office menu.
The Scheduler management window will then be displayed.

  • Click on the Start Scheduler button to start the Scheduler program running.

  • To hide the Scheduler's form, click on the 'Hide' button.
  • The program will then run in the background and display a 'Stop Watch' icon in the Windows system tray.

    • Double click on the Sto Watch icon at any time to view the Scheduler
    • To stop the Scheduler click on the Stop button on its form.
The Back Office also has a 'Stop Scheduler' function in the POS Lanes menu, but this does not effect an imnmediate stop, the scheduler will stay in memory until it starts its next scheduled opration, but it will then stop instead of Polling.
